Intro From Valerie

Hi! I'm Valerie, from Long Island, New York :-) You can find my Blog here, or you can find me on Ravelry as Valink. I plan on making the Marly bag, but honestly, I'm not satisfied with any of the yarn I already have, so I feel a shopping trip coming on before I start!! I'll be going up to New Hampshire this weekend (most likely) and there are several great yarn shops close by, so I may go stop by one of them. If I don't get up to NH I'll place an order at WEBS, so I'll have to wait for that to come in before I start. Oh well. At least I've got the pattern in my hot little hands! Maybe I'll make a Mini Marly to placate me while I wait for the good stuff... I also want to make the XL bag too, so maybe I'll order the yarn for that too now.

I'm looking forward to the KAL & can't wait to get started!

Hey Val,

What yarn shops do you go to in NH?

I'm in CT, so NH is not out of reach. Of course, depending on where you are, you could just visit Webs in Northampton, MA..... :-)

I hit up WEBS on two of my trips to NH this summer! That place is amazing!! I'll be driving up late Fri night & home on Sunday, so I can't swing by this time.

In NH I like the Fiber Studio in Henniker. It's my abosulte favorite shop. Not the BEST selection in the world, but there's just something about it that I'm so drawn to! Also the Wool Room in Antrim is literally around the block from my Gpa's house. They have this wool from a farm in Vt that I think would be PERFECT for an XL bag. And I went to one in Keene once but I can't remember the name of it.... Something Ewe? It was on the 2nd floor of a building. It was nice but not any different then most of the yarn shops by home. Have you been to any up that way? I'm a yarn shop junkie!

We always have a big celebration in the car when we get through Ct on the way up to NH. Since Ct takes so long to get through we feel like we're practically there by the time we pop out of the north side of Ct! LOL!

Val,

The ladies that run Fiber Studio are retiring. However, they have sold the shop, and it's going to keep the same name, etc.

I know that Harrisville Wools is in the Keene area, but I'm not familiar with the Antrim shop. I try to visit different yarn shops whenever we take a car trip.

Last week, we were in Bar Harbor, Me. Stopped at Halycon Yarn in Bath, and also found two smaller places in the Bar Harbor area. Great fun.

I would love to see the Webs store. Not to push the yarns I have, but I sell the yarns used in the pattern for less then Webs sells them for (I looked)...so...um...if you are going to buy the Brown Sheep yarn, consider buying if form me as my prices are better. Now, that being said I am not sure what the difference is in terms of no tax from me but shipping costs from me, tax from them but no shipping costs...and you get instant gratification when buying from them. Its hard to wait for yarn in the mail isn't it...though sometimes I think anticipation is one of the greatest things in life. I wish I could pdf yarn to you! Have fun yarn shopping.

My parents got me some yarn from Harrisville last time we were up there, but I was back to school shopping, so I didn't make it down to the shop :-(

Sharon:

I probaby will order from you of I go with the Lamb's Pride instead using from my stash. It seems like this weekend is getting increasingly chaotic, so I don't think there will be yarn shopping involved.
